My journey so far.

It all started off about 30 years ago when I sat by an acoustic piano in a living room at my brother's friends house. I had a tune in my head and started playing. I'd never sat by a piano, or musical instrument beforehand.

As a kid, I was gifted a little keyboard as a birthday present then it grew into playing piano at primary school concerts and assemblies, which grew into high school music competitions, studying music at high school, winning youth Eisteddfod competitions, and playing at my end of high school 'prom' event. Then, when I entered the world of work I played at the local cathedral at a charity event organised by my former colleague. It was always a serious hobby.

I left home at 19 to go travelling around the world on my own as a backpacker - so packing my piano would have been too much to take (Hah!) so I had a long stint of not playing at all - and I missed it a lot! By chance, I came across a djembe drumming workshop in the park one summer's day when I was taking a walk through the city of Montreal in Canada. I got playing the drums and soon after, at a festival, bought my first drum, so used that for music therapy whilst on the lookout for a piano to sit at and play!!

Music has been in me on and off, for a while, always as a serious hobby. When I lost my grandfather suddenly, it pushed me into a different direction of music - playlist curating. I didn't know what it was at first, I was just adding tracks by other people into a Spotify playlist and turned the whole playlist into a theme based on my world travels with the songs all flowing together. Was I a DJ/curator/sound artist/nerd (yes!) but I honestly didn't know.

4 years after that started (approx.) I am here, launching my own website, releasing my first official EP as a Music Producer/Sound Designer through my own little label Poor Jinx & The Silent Crickets (named after my late pet gecko). It's been a rollercoaster of a journey - and finally, I am delighted to share it with you.
